“Clover Ridge Place in Maquoketa has been in
operation since May 4, 2000 with 39 apartments with
a specialized memory care program. Lynne Popp, the
current manager began as the social worker in
October 2001, and became the manager in October,
2004.
What makes Clover Ridge different from other
assisted livings is not the amenatities, the
furnishings, or the physical building. Iit’s what
happens when you enter the doors! The people make
the difference in every way!
Clover Ridge is a “family” oriented community, from
the residents, their families, to the staff and
their families. Clover Ridge is a constant presence
in the community of Maquoketa, and Maquoketa is very
devoted to Clover Ridge.
You can see the residents and staff participating in
community events year round, including the large
Volunteer Appreciation Dinner each February with
over 100 guests in attendance, family nights every
month with dinner and music, Thanksgiving and
Christmas dinners and the housewarming parties for
all their new residents each month with friends and
family. Clover Ridge recently participated in
Maquoketa Days, which featured a King and Queen
crowned at Clover Ridge who rode in the parade
downtown, followed by a picnic in the park. Many
people from Maquoketa joined the group from Clover
Ridge at the picnic site to reminisce. Residents
also enjoyed a riverboat cruise on the Mississippi
with many staff and family enjoying a great day
together.
But the day to day lives of the residents and staff
are the heart of Clover Ridge. In recent employee
surveys conducted responses included “I love working
here, residents and staff are all caring. It feels
like a big family.” Another employee wrote “Everyone
works as a team. My bosses are very willing to help
with whatever we need. They are willing to listen to
our ideas.”
When staff was asked what they liked best about
their jobs, responses included “I love working with
the residents, and to know that they’re happy and
being cared for is all I ask for.” Other responses
included “Helping an Alzheimer’s resident find a
memory to make them smile,” and “Helping the
residents, treating them the way I would want my
parents to be treated.”
This is all a result of the consistent and constant
leadership of Clover Ridge’s Manager, Lynne Popp.
Lynne’s core philosophy is to make Clover Ridge
home. Many of the residents’ doors have wreaths of
flowers, John Deere Tractor pictures and photos of
the family farm. Each resident is unique and treated
as an individual. And each staff member can tell you
a story about every one of their residents. They
know their families, their history and what is
special to each of them.
Lynne also firmly believes by working together to
provide the best living atmosphere, they can
accomplish the goal of Clover Ridge being their
“last” home. Although this may not be the case for
everyone, Lynne and her team have developed an
excellent working collaboration with their local
hospice in Maquoketa, and have been able to provide
loving care to many of their long time residents
during their end of life. This has been a labor of
love, and has evolved into a mutual respect by both
providers of the care given to each and every one of
their residents. Hospice provides monthly massage
therapy for all staff at Clover Ridge in
appreciation for the loving care they provide each
and every resident. The comments from the Hospice
providers have been overwhelmingly positive. One
nurse stated “she has never worked with such a
caring group of people, ever!”
Of course Lynne leads this philosophy, but her staff
is completely on board! They strive to make each and
every day a special day in their residents’ lives.
In a recent resident survey, 100% of the residents
who responded to the survey stated they would
recommend Clover Ridge. One resident survey summed
up the results of Lynne and her team’s effort when
she stated, “I think Clover Ridge is about as
perfect any place can be. I love it here. It really
feels like home here.” |
