I am writing this letter to nominate Bethany
Clemenson, Manager of Windsor Manor Assisted Living
in Vinton. I as well as my co-workers feel that she
deserves this more than anyone. A brief letter can’t
possibly explain how great she really is. I will sum
it up the best I can.
I joined the team in February of this year and am
the Healthcare Coordinator/RN. Bethany immediately
made me feel at home and part of the “Windsor
Family”. I quickly learned that was her motto,
“Welcome Home to the Windsor Family”. That motto
stands strong in her heart. That home-like family-
feeling starts when you walk through the front door.
The community is exceptionally clean and well kept.
A staff member greets you at the door and offers you
something to drink and or a comfortable chair to
rest in while the appropriate person is found. Some
visitors have expressed how impressed they were as
they were offered these things 6 times before
meeting with Bethany. She wants everyone to feel
welcome.
The residents come first in her book. She believes
that if our residents are happy then everything else
falls into place. It is very important to Bethany
for our new residents to feel at home when they
arrive to their new home with us. She finds out from
their loved ones what their favorite treat may be or
what they enjoy doing as a hobby. She makes sure
that resident has a homemade pie made by our cook,
Glenna, or has a new crossword puzzle book to start
on. She always makes sure that they have what they
need and if they don’t she gets it.
The residents are not afraid to talk to her about
anything and trust her with all their hearts. She
laughs with them, loves them, cries with them and
cares for all their needs. It is very important to
her that our residents feel loved and wanted. She is
often found hugging or just simply rubbing their
backs or touching their hand as they walk by. She is
always smiling to never let the residents feel as if
something could be wrong.
Bethany is also a registered nurse. She has a great
wealth of knowledge regarding the rules and
regulations one must follow to properly care for our
residents. We are often found sticking our heads
together. I know that I can always call on her for
advice or help and she will be right there beside me
the whole way. We use our teamwork to solve numerous
incidents and or problems. She is teaching me to be
a great leader for others.
Bethany shows great employee appreciation. She never
leaves anyone out. Everyone who works at Windsor
Manor has a card of their favorite things that they
fill out at start of employment. She implements our
favorite things throughout the year. We have a gem
card nomination box and every month we have a
Employee Gem of the Month. She wants everyone to
know that they play an important role in the
“Windsor Family”. She has a strong commitment to her
co-workers and makes sure that everyone is aware
that we are all here for the same reason. She often
says, “We all put our pants on the same way every
morning!”
Bethany made sure one of our employees who was
flooded out of her home in the Floods of 2008 had a
place to stay. She has also made sure another
employee was able to give her family presents at
Christmas time. She can always tell when someone is
having a bad day and makes sure to take them aside
and assure that they don’t need anything.
I will never forget the day that we had to move a
resident from one apartment to another. The
maintenance manager, Paul, was on his own because
the resident did not have any family close by.
Bethany took off her heels and slapped on her tennis
shoes and made sure that the resident got everything
she needed. She is not afraid to help in any
department.
It is very important to Bethany that the managers of
all departments meet often and that we are always
“in the know”. We have staff meetings twice monthly.
I wish that everyone could have the opportunity to
feel the energy in her meetings. She is so
enthusiastic and makes sure that everyone
understands. Bethany is always looking for new
information in the education of residents with
dementia. She wants us to know all the best
redirection techniques for each unique individual.
Bethany is always trying to also help the whole city
of Vinton as a community in any way we can. She
recently held a school supply drive for those less
fortunate. We were able to help approximately 75
students. What an awesome feeling! She is also a
strong supporter of the Alzheimer Association. She
loves to read about the newest research there is for
this disease that affects our population the most.
I know that I am going to be a great leader someday
because I worked for Bethany. She wants to make sure
that all of us are successful at what we do. She has
a strong drive to provide exceptional care to our
elderly. Please consider Bethany as the
Administrator of the year because according to the
“Windsor Family”, she deserves this recognition.
Thank you!
Bethany has a resident who feels very proud of her
and wanted to share this poem she wrote:
One Day…….
I looked out the window
And what did I see?
Our lovely young manager
Whose name is Bethany.
She was pushing a wheelchair,
On a cold, dreary day.
The man riding in it had
Decided not to stay.
Bethie pushed on,
Though there was a slight hill
Smiling and chatting
And being sweet still.
What is the source
Of her kindness and care?
Don’t you know Bethany
Is a woman of prayer?
God’s word had told her
To help those in need;
And she obeys Him,
Serving others, indeed.
